Listen closely and you can almost hear the beat. It's ``Pomp and
Circumstance,'' the tune that echoes through the corridors of every
college this time of year. It's time for commencement - not an end
but a beginning, as many graduation speakers are sure to intone.
But what do members of the class of '97 have to offer? What
are their hopes, their plans and their ideas?
The Virginian-Pilot talked to five soon-to-be graduates at
local colleges and universities. Their stories are as varied as
their smiles, but all cling to the dream a future made brighter by a
college education.
